PUT A KNOT IN IT

thrifted skirt, american deadstock fringe vest, jacket from stella tank from melrose trading post, random jewelry

It hasn't been difficult to keep up with only thrifting until Chrissa pointed out this crochet dress posted on Stella's facebook yesterday.

Maybe a reflection of a design Free People would put out for Spring? But unlike their insane pricing, this dress is only $45. Eeep. Casey like. Casey want. Casey won't buy because of stupid thrifting limitations.
Suddenly I feel like a dog with a steak put in front of it. And I can't eat the steak.
I've found a few prime clothing gems while thrifting lately, though. This velvet skirt being one of them. I have made it infinitely better by simply tying a knot in it. Most everything that is "eh" can be made "ay!" with a knot. It's a little crazy how much better things can look entangled in themselves. For example this dress from Spanish Moss:

Am I right? Knots, man. Put a knot in it. Not to be confused with Put A Bird On It.

I'VE GOT A SNAKE IN MY BOOT

thrifted flannel and diy shorts, etsy snake boots, jacket c/o sheinside.com, f21 top, my little fish eye studded friendship bracelet, euphoria necklace

I wish I could wear these boots for an entire day without my feet hurting. They are a little on the snug side, but they are such awesome kicks that I hardly care. Perfectly comfortable boots aren't that easy to come by and I have found that the more expensive the boot, the more comfortable they aren't necessarily. Some of my JC shoes are the least good-feeling of them all. They look rad, but holy chit. Ouch. SPRING IS ALMOST HERE!! I am looking forward to tanks and shorts ALL DAY EVERY DAY.

THIS SONG PUMPS ME UP. Makes me want to wear every snake print item I own and go road tripping through the desert again.

FLAME

entire outfit from thrift stores minus the tights, my little fish eye spike friendship bracelet

I think this 90s flame tube top was part of a little girls dance costume. One dollar later and it's on my bod. Time to take it off now. 35 degrees out. BUMMER TO THE MAX.

Peace.

90210

thrifted top, $2 beanie, skirt from wasteland

Forgot about this shirt. I got it for a dollar awhile back and just found it under the heap of clothing that doesn't fit in my closet and has no place in a drawer. Are you sick of seeing me in a beanie? Too bad. My instincts say this one is meant for a 15 year old lad on a hunting trip with his pop, but I snagged it and definitely will not be hunting with this bad boy on. Just maybe jumping out in front of cars on O street at night to see who slams on their breaks. I might add a juggalo face to the mix. Yeah, may have to make a night out of this. Also, I am 27.

I am dying over these 3 outfits from this shop on ebay. And her hair?

Seriously??!

BUMMIN' BY A WALL

thrifted top, thritted shorts, purse from the black market, erin wasson triangle necklace, belt from buffalo exchange, spike friendship ring c/o my little fish eye, dog from the streets of orange county

The majority of what I have been wearing lately has been thrifted or upcycled and this has consequently got me interested in a small goal. If you ever listen to lectures on TED.com, you may have heard this speech about not stating goals publicly, but instead talking about your goal after you have accomplished it. The instant gratification we get after getting praised about our upcoming goal frequently shatters the road to the goal itself, because the accomplishment has already been rewarded before we even start. I understand that this is true, and for whatever reason goal stating is a HUGE pet peeve of mine (which I have talked about before, I know, I know.) I don't feel overly ambitious about stating my small, accomplishable goal for the next month because I am currently in the middle of it. For February and March I am only purchasing thrifted clothing (this excludes shoes and jewelry). When I triumphantly reach the end of March, I may tack another month on to it. I am somewhat of a clothing hoarder and buyer doing loads of online shopping, so this is a rather large game plan in my world. As of now, this month has been a success. The reason for this thrifting notion is to achieve a much larger goal. My lips are sealed, though, until said secret larger aim is accomplished. But really, thrifting is great anyway. I've noticed that some Goodwill locations have (finally!) arranged their racks by size. No more weeding through a bunch of XXL tops and dresses I wish would fit. Just a straight beeline to my section. If all the other thrift stores would figure this out I could be a speed thrift shopper to the max.

On a different note, how great is that spiked friendship ring? My Little Fish Eye makes great friendship accessories, much of them studded. I am excited to wear the bracelet she sent as well. Spikes4life. Spikes4evr.

Song time.
